2. Confined Space Training in Puerto Rico


The CET will be conducting our 2-day confined space training course in San Juan, Puerto Rico, February 18-19, 2003. The CET is collaborating with the Universidad Metropolitana, in San Juan, to provide this exciting training opportunity. News From OSHA
OSHA Recordkeeping Form to Include Hearing Loss starting in 2004; Decisions on Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD) Postponed
Beginning Jan. 1, 2004, employers will be required to check a hearing loss column to record work-related cases meeting the new recording criteria established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The new criteria go into effect in 2003. The agency also announced they are postponing for one year three provisions related to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs): the rule's definition of MSDs, consideration of MSDs as privacy concern cases, and requirements to check a MSD columns on the OSHA Log.


Revised Publications from OSHA


OSHA also recently revised two publications: Asbestos Standard for the Construction Industry http://www.osha.gov/Publications/3096.pdf and Crane or Derrick Suspended Personnel Platforms http://www.osha.gov/Publications/3100.pdf
Fact Sheet for High-Rise Building Evacuations
OSHA has developed a new fact sheet, Evacuating High-Rise Buildings, focusing on actions employers should take when an emergency occurs and what they can do to ensure safe evacuations.
