What is Impacting Lives Every Day: Public Health in the Classroom?
Impacting Lives Every Day: Public Health in the Classroom is an initiative of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Public Health (UMDNJ SPH) funded by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. The project was designed to introduce public health to New Jersey high school teachers, guidance counselors, and students in an effort to increase awareness about the field and its related careers. Project activities included classroom presentations to students across New Jersey and a workshop for educators in the fall of 2005. A CD was created and included as one component of the Impacting Lives Every Day: Public Health in the Classroom resource package, which was sent to over 450 high schools in New Jersey. Who created the Impacting Lives Every Day: Public Health in the Classroom resource package?
The Impacting Lives Every Day: Public Health in the Classroom resource package was created/compiled by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Public Health (UMDNJ SPH) with funding from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. Contributions to the resource package were made by Pfizer Public Health Group, the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, and The College Board. Additional materials were purchased from the American Public Health Association and the Association of Schools of Public Health.

The information and activities included in the resource package and on the CD can be used by educators in a classroom setting or with a student organization/club, or by students on their own.
